1- BOPP from 20 to 34 µm

This polypropylene layer guarantees excellent colour and tactile performance in gloss, matt and soft touch finishes. In addition, its chemical composition enhances the functional barrier against gas and moisture, providing strength and resistance to the pouch.

2- 20 my metalized barrier PP

Is a metallised polypropylene layer that provides gas and light barriers and preserves flavours. It also offers an excellent moisture barrier.

3- 80 my Cast PP

Polypropylene acts as a moisture barrier layer and as a sealing layer. This polymer is guaranteed for healthy and safe contact with food

1- BOPP 20 bis 34 µm

Diese Polypropylen-Schicht sorgt für eine hervorragende Farb- und Haptikqualität – sowohl bei glänzender als auch bei matter oder Soft-Touch-Oberfläche. Leicht und formbar ist Aluminium besonders leistungsstark im Bereich flexibler Verpackungen. Es bietet eine hohe Konservierungsleistung, da es als Schutzschild gegen Licht, Feuchtigkeit und Verunreinigungen wirkt.

3- PP Cast 80 µm

Polypropylen fungiert als Feuchtigkeitsbarriere und Siegelschicht. Dieses Polymer ist für einen hygienischen und sicheren Lebensmittelkontakt zertifiziert.

Our metallised mono-material film packaging is suitable for any food product. The shelf life of the material is 24 months from the date of production.In addition, in cooperation with the Italian Espresso Institute (IEI), the packaging's reliability was tested: some pouches, containing coffee, travelled in Korea subjecting themselves to extreme changes in pressure and temperature. The results revealed the material's ability to preserve the product's original sensory profiles.

The new metallised film underwent recyclability testing by the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging through Interzero, a leading German certification body that works with the European community to set recyclability standards. Collaborations have been established with leading university research bodies and with CSI, which has subjected the envelopes to a real mechanical recycling process. This metallised film has obtained the recyclability certificate with the 'Made for Recycling' label, achieving an excellent result. Below you can download the relevant certificate nr 2903.

What is metallized recyclable film? It is a sustainable material that combines the protection typical of aluminium with recyclable properties, providing a barrier against light, gas and moisture.

Which products can be packaged with this film? Ideal for light- and moisture-sensitive foods such as snacks, chocolate, coffee and baked goods.

Is the film genuinely recyclable? Yes, the material has passed recyclability tests according to European standards, certified by Interzero.

What advantages does it offer over traditional aluminium? The main advantage is recyclability: metallised film is mono-material and can be sent for recycling through plastic waste streams, which is not possible with a multi-layer laminate containing aluminium foil. It also has a lower environmental impact, assessed through an LCA study carried out in accordance with the ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards using a cradle-to-gate approach, in collaboration with SCF International S.r.l. In terms of protection, it provides the same light barrier as aluminium foil — verified through transmittance analysis carried out with the CSI testing laboratory — and offers high barrier properties against oxygen and water vapour, although it does not match the performance of aluminium foil.

How should the packaging be correctly disposed of? Recyclable metallised film is identified by the PP 5 code and can be placed in plastic waste collection, where local systems allow. There is in fact no dedicated collection stream for metallised films: the separation of the different plastic families and the identification of metallisation take place at sorting facilities, downstream of collection. Since collection and recycling arrangements vary by country and by local area, we recommend always checking the requirements of your local authority or waste management operator: correct disposal keeps the packaging out of landfill and allows the material to re-enter the production cycle.
